Ford Retail Sales Jump 21%

Ford Motor Company released its August 2009 sales numbers and posted a strong 21.4% increase (176,323 vehicles) in retail sales over August 2008.  This is the second month in a row that Ford has posted a year-over-year increase in sales.

Ford's fresh new lineup combined with the Government's Cash for Clunker program helped the only American auto company that hasn't taken bailout money increase its market share for 10 out of the past 11 months. 

Here is an overview of sales increase by vehicle.

Fusion – 132% increase – sales record of 21,010 vehicles

Flex – 107% increase

Transit Connect – 70% increase

Ranger – 57% increase

Focus – 56% increase – August record of 25,547 vehicles

F-150 – 13% increase

Ford's combined hybrid sales were up an astounding 251%.
