2011 Ford Mustang V6: 305 Horsepower & 30 MPG

November 30, 2009

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 30, 2009 – The 2011 Ford Mustang puts 305 high-performance horses in the hands of V-6 coupe buyers with a new all-aluminum dual-overhead cam (DOHC) engine that delivers a projected 30 mpg on the highway with a six-speed automatic transmission and fun for drivers on nearly every road.

For 2011, Mustang’s new 3.7-liter Duratec 24-valve V-6 uses advanced engineering to deliver its power and economy: Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) adjusts the valvetrain in microseconds. Aluminum construction means light weight. It’s an engine designed to crank out torque down low, rev to 7,000 rpm and deliver the mechanical music sports coupe lovers crave everywhere in between.

“Mustang is completely transformed with this new engine,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development. “Everything people love about the car is still there and now under the hood is a V-6 engine that uses premium technology to deliver the power, the feel, the fuel efficiency, even the sound of the best sports coupes in the world.”

The New Pony

February 25, 2009

Ford adds a new pony to its stable this spring and this pony truly carries the spirit of its name…Mustang.  When you think of a Mustang you think of a true muscle car that's rich in heritage.  It's owners share memories that are passed down from generation to generation.  The Mustang isn't just a car, it's an automotive and cultural icon.  The new Mustang is fast, fun, affordable, and fuel efficient.  That's right, I said it's fuel efficient.  The new V-6 is about 300 pounds lighter which not only helps improve the fuel economy to an eye popping 26 mpg but it also gives it a leg up on the new Camaro and Challenger in handling.

Painting Pioneers

In terms of quality and the leading the pack Ford is the industry leader with fewer paint chip, scratches, and better long-term durability according to the GQRS.  The Ford paint team examines competitive vehicles side-by-side against its own products to develop new technologies, pigments, and coatings.  The new Tuxedo Black coating which made its debut on the 2009 model year contains flakes derived from glass rather than metal.  Ford is currently pioneering new technologies such as an environmentally friendly anti-corrosion system that cuts paint shop water use nearly in half and reduces sludge production by 90 percent, as well as a three-part wet application process that reduces C02 emissions by 15 percent.

2010 Ford Shelby GT 500 Packs a More Powerful Punch

Leave it to Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) to raise the bar in the muscle car segment to new levels.  Ford recently unveiled it's 2010 model of the Shelby GT 500 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this past January.

The new Shelby GT 500 delivers more power than the previous model year ramping up the horsepower to 540, increasing the torque to 510 foot-pounds, downforce increased, and drag reduced.  The new gearbox enhancements, plus a standard 3.55.1 rear axle ratio mean that the 2010 model will deliver even better acceleration all while providing better fuel economy.

Take one look at this beast and you know it means business.  The aggressive new exterior design features new functional details such as the hood extractor to remove heat from the engine and "Gurney Flap" spoiler to tune rear downforce.  The interior is all-new as well and features world-class materials and craftmanship that create the most unique GT 500 Interior yet.

Memo to GM and Chrysler…don't say we didn't warn you.  This snake bites…and packs the most potent power ever from a factory Mustang.
